Armenia's defense and high-tech industry is shaping the country's new strength and future. On this path, not only ideas are important, but also the raw materials upon which technological security is built.
“Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine” CJSC is participating in the two-day technology exhibition-forum "RISE Powered by Silicon Mountains 2026" held in Yerevan on June 3-4, as a platinum partner of the event.
Defense industry, cybersecurity, engineering innovations, defense technologies: “RISE Powered by Silicon Mountains 2026” has united the potential of Armenian technological thought, international experience, and innovation on one platform.
Copper and molybdenum are key metals in the modern defense industry. They are used in a number of important areas, ranging from rocket engineering to armored vehicles, semiconductors, chips, satellite systems and drone engines. The output manufactured in Syunik becomes part and parcel of tomorrow's world of technology.
Vardan Jhanyan, First Deputy General Director of ZCMC CJSC, President of the Mining and Metallurgy Association of Armenia, who was also a speaker at the panel discussion titled "Challenges in the Development of the Defense Industry," emphasized in a conversation with reporters that Armenia has great potential for the extraction of two important metals used in state-of-the-art technologies and defense industry, namely, copper and molybdenum.
“The mining sector is directly related to the defense industry, although ZCMC and, in general, the mining sector cannot make direct investments in that sector, as they are not comparable.
However, the mining sector, while providing huge tax revenues, indirectly invests money in the military industry through state programs," said Jhanyan.
The ZCMC attaches great importance to the formation of such strategic platforms in Armenia and will continue to support initiatives that develop the country's science and technology potential, industry, and defense capability.
